FROM THE MOTHER

Some helpful winter walking tips
1.      Plan ahead: give yourself sufficient time and plan your route.
2.      Wear appropriate shoes/boots (rubber soled).  Avoid leather and plastic soles.
3.      Be aware of your walking surfaces, especially around your car and in parking lots.
4.      Avoid walking on concrete and wooden curbs.  These surfaces are extremely slippery and are not treated with ice melt.
5.      Leave at least on hand free to help you hold onto railings or other objects to help prevent a fall.
When entering your home or other buildings, remove snow and water from your footwear to prevent creating a slippery condition and not track up the house. ;)
