DAY 2- SAVANNAH, GA

On our second day in Savannah, we woke up pretty early and D got our continental breakfast from the lobby to compliment what we had in our cooler, Lol!  We decided to go over to Paula Deen's The Lady and Sons to get a lunch reservation, we arrived at 9:30 a.m. and the line was down the block and turning the corner.

While in line we saw this

and thought of our friend MWR, who we would meet in Florida the next day.

We were able to get a reservation for 11am.  So we had some time to kill, what did we do, SHOP!  While we waited for Paula's gift shop to open at 10 we went into Savannah Style Inc. located across from the restaurant.  Here's a look at what I purchased:

The earrings, cuff and ring were all under $30!

We then made our way over to Paula's Store and I got some gifts and my favorite steak sauce

I got the Sweet Potato Biscuit Mix for MWR (let me know how good they are when you make them)
Then it was time for lunch

They actually send someone out to ring the lunch bell!

Best fried chicken and lima beans on earth!

After consuming way too much, we took the walk back to our hotel to drop our packages off, then onto the Freedom Trail Tour.  The tour conductor, Johnnie Brown has over 20 years of experience and is quite a character! We visited the first African Baptist Church, the oldest black church in North America, Savannah's Civil Rights Museum, the Port of entry where slaves were bought and sold and a slave burial ground.

After the tour we returned to our hotel to prepare for our cooking glass later that evening. We attended Chef Joe Randall's Gumbo class:

On the Menu:

Sliced Artichokes over Spring Greens with Herb Mustard Vinaigrette

Creole Seafood Gumbo with Steamed Rice and Hot French Bread

Bananas Foster with Vanilla Ice Cream

We ate so much it was ridiculous, but it was sooo good.  After dinner it was back to hotel to pack up for our departure to FLA early the next morning.

Up Next: Day 3 - Our arrival in FLA

WTW!!!

So I forgot to tell Radnor Security that this is a "don't call, don't come weekend"!  They have been calling me since 3 a.m.  What did I do to deserve this?  I swear I'm a good person, all I want is some sleep.  Its not even a want at this point its a need.

I downloaded the entire album yesterday, my fav "Making You Wait"!

PREPPING FOR AN IN-HOUSE WEEKEND..

This means that I will not leave my house from Friday-Monday morning:

I need to get back on track with every single thing.  You name it, and I've fallen off, for example:

Laundry - I will conquer the mounds this weekend
Unpacking - I will completely unpack the many unnecessary outfits taken on vacattion and not worn.
Organization - I will organize my closet for the 100th time
Hair - I will try Carols Daughter Monoi Repairing Hair Mask
Cleanse - I will be doing a colon cleanse during this time to rid myself of any remnants of the eating done in    Savannnah/FLA!

I need to make a Target/Walmart/Whole Foods run to insure that I have everything I need to work with.

RANDOMS FROM A 2 HR. MEETING

A Monday, 1 p.m. departmental meeting had me trippin in the worst way.  I took pen to paper and just started writing down randoms thoughts that came to mind as the many speakers gave their presentations.  I was on the verge of sleep and quite delirious as you will see but I wrote to keep myself awake:

You keep that in mind
OMG I feel awful!
People luv to add stuff and jump onto catch phrases
As if we have notheing else to do
As if all of our work is at risk!
Text-call me! Not today
Let me find out you are catching feelings...
..............Been here done this before
Have goals and set timepoints
Buckets!
Doesn't interact with W????
You are tired
Rabid

LMAO,WTW like I said I was tired as hell, most of this makes absolutely no sense to me.  I was also playing a solitary game of tic-tac-toe during the meeting.  I'm glad these 2hr meetings don't come around too often.

GIRLS WEEK 2011 - DAY 1 SAVANNAH, GA

Well I know this post is long overdue!  I've been back home nearly a week but I've been so busy. Here's the details of Day 1 in Savannah!

D and I got on the road on schedule on Tues, 6/7 at about 9:30 p.m. after picking up our rental and getting our baggage situated in the vehicle.  She hadn't slept, but chose to take the first leg of our 12 hr. drive as we made our way to Savannah, GA.  Twenty minutes into our drive we ran into construction traffic which sucked.  We made a few stops for fuel and food at Waffle House where D got hit on by the cook, lol!  We arrived in Savannah ahead of schedule and completely delirious.  Thank God for good music and a great driving partner!

Our plan was to go directly to the Mrs. Wilkes House to get in line for lunch, but when we arrived at 8:30 we decided to go to our hotel and try to check in early.  On the way we walked thru one of the beautiful squares in Savannah.

We were able to check-in at the Springhill Suites by Marriott. Our suite was really nice.

There was a spacious sitting area

Two comfy queen beds

......and a nice bathroom

Thankfully everything was conveniently located near the hotel, so we walked back to Mrs. Wilkes to stand in line for lunch.  When we arrived there were bout 6 people in line.  At 11:00 am the doors open and we joined six others at our table for a family style lunch.

Worth the drive and the wait, just like I remembered!

After lunch the shopping began at the best Savannah style boutique, One Fish Two Fish.

When we entered the boutique we wanted to know what we were smelling.  We learned that they were burning NEST candles, possibly the best I've ever smelled.  I purchased the Moroccan Amber, D got the Grapefruit.  The jewelry reminded us of the Stella and Dot collection and home furnishings were sooo beautiful. If you are ever in Savannah, you have to stop by and experience this place.  It's like a small scale Anthropologie.

Next we got settled in our room and planned to take a tour at 3:00 p.m.  By this time we were exhausted but we pushed ourselves to the Visitor's Center, where the tour was to begin.  We waited and waited and our tour guide never showed up.  So we returned to our room and got some much needed rest.

Day 2 up next.
